India: During Amazon’s recent Prime Day sale in India, the company’s B2B platform, Amazon Business, experienced remarkable growth with a 56% increase in sales compared to the previous year’s Prime Day event in 2022. The sale, exclusively for Amazon’s paid members, saw impressive numbers, including the sale of one large appliance every 2 seconds, five smartphones every second, and two toys every second.
Amazon Business saw significant growth across various categories, with electronics sales doubling, office furniture growing by 1.7 times, and kitchen products and appliances witnessing a 1.4 times increase in sales.
Moreover, Amazon celebrated a robust surge in Prime membership during the Prime Day event, boasting the highest engagement with 14% more members shopping compared to the previous year. Prime members from almost all of India’s pin codes participated in the shopping frenzy, purchasing a diverse range of items, including front load washing machines, headphones, apparel, luxury beauty products, smartphones, and baby products from well-known brands.
The sales performance during the Prime Day event was exceptional, with toys achieving their highest ever single-day sales, averaging 1.8 toys sold per second. Additionally, home appliances and kitchen products, such as mixer grinders, water purifiers, and water heaters, experienced a two-fold growth during Prime Day on Amazon Fresh.
Smartphone sales were particularly impressive, with approximately five smartphones being sold every second, with 70% of the demand coming from Tier 2 and 3 cities. The popularity of foldable smartphones also skyrocketed, growing 25 times during the event. Amazon’s newly launched smartphones received an overwhelming response from Prime members.
Overall, Amazon’s Prime Day in India was a tremendous success, showcasing the e-commerce giant’s ability to engage and satisfy its loyal Prime members with exciting deals and a wide range of products across various categories.
